
Entering into the last half of the pear season with plenty of marketable fresh pears available.
The 2018-19 season is providing 19.7 million standard 44-lb boxes of conventional the fresh pear market, including conventional and organically grown pears from the Northwest. The figures are collected from growers in Wenatchee and Yakima, Washington and Mid-Columbia and Medford, Oregon.
The top three varieties produced by Northwest growers remain the same as in previous years; Green Anjou pears, and Bartlett and Bosc pears. As the 2018 year begins, Green and Red Anjous and Bosc pears are still available and some shippers may also have a supply of Bartlett available along with a limited supply of other varieties.
